OMAHA, NE -- Brayden Sharp, former Woodlands Highlander turned current Volunteer, will have a chance to be a part of a potential College World Series Championship squad should Tennessee overcome the Aggies in tonight’s winner-take-all game three.

Before his move to Knoxville, the lefty pitcher has seen his fair share of success throughout his time with the Highlander program.

Four years under the expert leadership of Ron Eastman led to Sharp taking home three District MVPs for 13-6A. The qualities of reliable pitching paired with the academic prestige of The Woodlands High School shaped Brayden into a model student who entered the college ranks well-prepared for what was ahead of him.

In an interview with Jason Greer, Sharp explained how the preparation at The Woodlands enabled him to transition smoothly into being a Division One college athlete.

“The school, the academics, and athletics prepared me immensely for [Tennessee]” said Sharp. “Some may say it over-prepared me for it. College is hard, but it's not as hard as some of the teachers made it out to be. And Coach Eastman taught me to be a leader and that’s carried on through college.”

The time put in with the Highlanders has now rewarded Sharp with a shot at taking part in a College Championship team that had its eyes set on the title since the beginning of the season.

“[Tony] Vitello has been very high on this team,” explained Sharp ahead of the 2024 season “He said that this team was better than last year’s team, which last year’s team made it to Omaha. It’s hard to be better than that.”

Sharp and the rest of the Volunteers have a chance to prove that their preseason expectations were founded on truth if they can defeat Texas A&M one more time. The final game of the College World Series takes place tonight, May 24th at 6 PM Central.
