The business operations manager/Controller will serve as the Treasurer for Christ Church Methodist (“CCM”) and be responsible for managing and reporting the financial position of Christ Church Methodist on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, in accordance with GAAP and supervision of other financial personnel. Additionally, the business operations manager/controller will supervise the bookkeeper to ensure accurate and timely entry of all financial transactions.

Additional responsibilities include reconciling all balance sheet accounts and working with bookkeeper and other staff members to ensure accurate and timely reports. To be successful in this role this individual should have previous experience managing accounting groups and functions. Experience with religious or other non-profit entities is a plus. Specifically, the position will be required to:

• Manage the monthly closing process, publish and review the monthly financial statement package with church finance committee and regularly report to the Leadership Board.
• Establish, implement, and comply with policies and procedures to ensure a high level of financial controls.
• Prepare and enter annual budget forecasts with the executive team; the Staff and Parish Relations Committee (relative to Payroll and human relations issues); and the Finance Committee.
• Reconcile bank accounts, and Balance Sheet accounts monthly.
• Process payroll for church employees.
• Serve as primary liaison to the Staff and Parish Relations Committee regarding payroll and human resources issues.
• Develop recommendations to optimize accounting systems and procedures and detecting inaccuracies.
• Prepare financial and tax reports, in compliance with all tax regulations.
• Mentor church and school staff on accounting control procedures.
• Perform monthly financial forecasting and identifying gaps in financial performance. Recommend solutions as necessary once identified.
• Coordinate semi-annual audits and serve as primary liaison to external auditors. Prepare documentation for External Auditors.
• Performing all payroll functions associated with the organization. These functions include time keeping, approval and processing payroll for both school and church.
• HR for entire organization- facilitating all new hires, inputting them into the HR and payroll software, facilitating term'd employees and all personnel changes for CCM employees in addition to the CEC, and tracking vacation of all staff.
• Benefits implementation, changes and cancellation for CCM staff (BSBS, COBRA, Aflac etc), facilitating payroll deductions for said benefits
• Assisting the business office at CCM with banking, financials, bill pay, payment posting and reconciliation as needed to include making physical deposits
• Maintain, monitor, and support all postings into Fellowship One member database and giving system.
• Assist with research and problem solving with financials as needed
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Advanced MS Excell skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online
• Experience in APS payroll systems is preferred.
• Experience with ProCare Solutions software is desirable.
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables.
BSc in Accounting or Finance stongly desired.
Work experience as a Sr. Accountant or Controller
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Experience in payroll processing.
Experience in accounting procedures and processes employed by 501(c)(3) non profits.
