Job Responsibilities
Foster a Christ-centered culture that promotes spiritual growth and development amount students and staff.
Works cooperatively with an admin team to develop ongoing strategic plans and provide visionary leadership to the school community.
Assists with the recruitment of high-quality school staff and facilitates ongoing professional development initiatives.
Steps in as the Head of School when necessary.
The Assistant Head of School should become familiar with the accreditation process, begin planning for the next accreditation year, familiarize themselves with the policies and procedures and what that will entail.
Learn Renweb, our student information system, to successfully contact/communicate with families, view student grades and data.
Provide regular updates to MCA families regarding academic policies, school happenings, extracurricular, etc.
Co-host regular meetings with parents to keep open communication
Implement and oversee extracurricular activities for MCA students to participate in.
Attend regular MCA Board meetings and be able to communicate necessary information to parents and staff.
Manage instructional processes to ensure that students’ academic and spiritual needs are being met.
Stay up to date on instructional resources being used to support the teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals for academic success.
Build a vision for school improvement with staff
Organize and facilitate Iowa testing (ordering and administering pretests, test, making schedule, implementing a plan for students with accommodations, registering test to be graded, analyze the test data, report data to families and staff, and implement a plan on how to improve year to year)
Use test data to work with staff on meeting students’ instructional needs
Learn and implement ELA and Math Assessment program to monitor student academic achievement beginning, middle, and end of the year and reporting that data to families. This includes professional development for all staff, inputting rosters, reviewing data after testing takes place and assisting teachers with homogenous grouping for students to receive intervention.
Manage the school budget (salary scale for each employee, pay rates, etc.)
Communicate and sustain a relationship with the church staff (communicating shared spaces, meetings, problems, praises, etc.)

Review 504s and IEP and assist in making sure teachers can meet those needs
Review teacher/staff contracts each year
Assist in completing teacher walk throughs and observations each year; meet with staff for yearly summatives
Meet (or zoom) with curriculum sales associates to plan and implement professional development for staff.
Assess campus needs such as furniture for classrooms, technology needs, instructional tools, chairs, lunch tables, smartboards, etc.
Take on the role of all hiring and the interview process including calling references
Create Master Schedule from year to year as well as class schedules for teachers
Oversee construction projects
Plan work days/staff development days
Develop school calendar, family handbook, and employee handbook
