Athletics Coach – Part Time

Scope

The Woodlands Methodist School Athletics Coach will guide our student athletes and teach them the correct way to participate in sports. This position will study the rules, techniques and other technical aspects of a game. The Woodlands Methodist School Athletics Coach will formulate training plans and look at areas such as the athlete and team’s performance, nutrition, educational performance at school and issues they may be having at home. The Woodlands Methodist School Athletics Coach will mentor our young athletes in the sport as well as their journey of faith. The Athletics Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promoting fair play
  • Taking care of sports equipment
  • Completing administrative duties
  • Planning coaching sessions
  • Mentoring athletes
  • Resolving team issues
  • Coordinating with schools, instructors, and administrators
  • Communicating with families

Qualifications

  • TWMS Athletics Coach will have trained or developed an in-depth knowledge of sports
  • Some college hours are preferred
  • Thorough understanding of good sportsmanship is required
  • Teamwork and an ability to build a team is essential
  • Understanding nutrition, anatomy and physiology is recommended
  • Organization and administration skills are required
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Mentoring and motivating are essential
  • Planning and project management skills
  • Being assertive and professional
  • Stress management
  • Experience working in a school or other academic setting is strongly preferred
  • Committed Christian that is comfortable sharing their faith with students and families

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Classification

This is a part-time position that requires a weekday M – F schedule in the afternoon and some evenings, along with some Saturdays for meets. This is a part – time exempt position that is not eligible for benefits.
