Position Title: Full time Clinical and Administrative Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY
We are looking for a highly motivated member to assist with both Clinical and Administrative work for our fast paced medical office located in The Woodlands, Texas. To assist the provider(s) with examination and treatment of patients in a clinical primary care facility. Prepare treatment rooms, position instruments and equipment, as needed per chief complaint. Operate medical equipment, provide injections and/or treatments. Perform clinical duties as assigned with competence.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes faxes and scans documents into EMR files.
Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology.
Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.
Establish reason for visit and document chief complaint, per the patient's description, on progress note in patient chart.
Take patient vital signs, including but not limited to blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight and temperature.
Instruct patients on preparation for the provider's examination when needed.
Performs basic lab tests, EKGs, and other procedures as assigned.
Work collaboratively with the providers for the coordination of quality health care toward the clinic's patients.
Stock and prepare rooms on a weekly basis.
Assist patients in need of help, i.e. elderly, handicap, etc.
Maintain supply and inventory for the exam room, in accordance with clinic and OSHA requirements.
Review patient charts for completeness, as well as order processing, for referrals, lab, imaging, etc.
Assist with medication refills.
Inform scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc.
Log patient information in patients electronic medical records with attention to detail and thoroughness.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of a Medical Assistant Certification program & BLS certified.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum: 1 year of clinical medical assisting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of injections and primary care procedures.
Knowledge of universal precautions and blood-borne pathogens.
Ability to document clearly, patient vital signs and chief complaints, as well as pay close attention to charting detail.
Ability to have empathy for patients and to treat them with dignity and respect, in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to manage patient flow in a fast paced clinic environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires full range of body motion including, but not limited to bending, lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, and/or siting for extended periods of time. Scheduling may include irregular work hours, may involve lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, may involve working through urgent and stressful conditions, may involve exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
Compensation Based on Experience and Skill Set
$15-$19
