HS Boys Soccer Playoffs: Sachse Holds off The Woodlands; Heads to State Championship
AUSTIN, TX -- After defeating Naaman Forest, The Woodlands faced off against Sachse in the Regional Final. This match up would determine who would move on to the UIL State Championship and who’s season would end.
Both teams came out swinging as they both attached the net on both ends of the field. The Woodlands would strike first but would come up short. Sachse would return the favor but The Woodlands defense would hold strong.
Tanner Tea with Sachse created a break away and with the assist to Cooper Tea score the sole goal of the first half. The Woodlands would try to respond but the Sachse defense and goalie would keep the ball away from the net. Sachse takes lead 1-0 going into halftime.
As the second half began, Sachse would get a throw in and score off the header. They increased their lead within 30 seconds of the second half.
The defensive battle continued with The Woodlands being the aggressor. This would pay off with 28 minutes left in the half with a goal to the back of the net. The Woodlands would put pressure on the Sachse lead.
Unfortunately for The Woodlands, Sachse tightened up their defense and closed down their attacks for the remainder of the game.
Sachse wins the Regional Final 2-1 against The Woodlands and moves on to the State Championship to face the Allen Eagles.
