CONROE, TX -- This week’s Veteran is David Cromwell, who served in the U.S. Army from 1968 – 1970. He was born in Conroe on D-Day in 1944, but was a bit young to serve in WWII. David attended Conroe High, graduating in 1962, then he attended Sam Houston State University and earned a BS in Biology. He was in Pharmacy school, when he was drafted in Summer 1968. After basic training at Fort Bliss, near El Paso, he was stationed at Walter Reed Army Hospital for medical training, then he was sent to Vietnam as part of a medical research team located at Long Bien, Vietnam. Cromwell was discharged in June 1970, and returned to Conroe. With Lake Conroe in the works in the early 1970s, David obtained a real estate brokers license, and worked at sales in lakeside subdivisions such as Walden and Point Aquaris. He then started his own business and developed properties such as Rancho Escondido on the east side of the lake, as well as Crown Oaks off Honea Egypt Rd. Good Luck David, and Congratulations on being ‘Veteran of the Week’.
