MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- This week’s Veteran is Rex Reeve. who served in the U.S. Army from 1970 - 1973. He was in the Air Defense Artillery during his time in the military. Rex served in Vietnam for a year, then was sent to Hanau, West Germany, near Frankfurt. He defended the skies above from threats coming back from Axis Forces. Rex remembers one night while stationed in Germany, when an alert was called when the radar picked up a “Soviet” plane, and everyone was thinking that they were going into action. The only problem was, one of the crews had their radar turned backwards, and it picked up a plane flying in West German airspace. Whew!!! After his military service Rex came back to the U.S., finished school at Oklahoma State, and became an electrical engineer. Reeves worked with General Dynamics in Fort Worth, working on the F-16 project, developing test equipment that The Air Force used to test the Flight Control Computer. Good Luck Rex, and Congratulations on being ‘Veteran of the Week’.
