THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Entergy Texas crews continue to work 16-hour shifts throughout the day and night and have successfully restored power to more than 90% of customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl. As of 9:30 a.m. Sunday, approximately 231,400 of the 252,460 customers impacted by the storm have been restored.

Crews restore power to more than 90% of customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl

Strong winds and heavy rainfall caused widespread vegetation-related damage to distribution lines, which is the main cause for extended outages. Restoration crews are using special equipment to reach hard-to-access areas and make repairs as quickly as possible.

The majority of customers who can safely take power are expected to be restored before the end of day Sunday. Customers in the most heavily impacted areas are still expected to be restored no later than Monday, July 15.

The time after the storm can be more dangerous than the storm itself. As with any weather event, Entergy Texas encourages the community to be mindful of the following safety tips:

  • Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1 800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.
  • Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. Again, stay away from downed power lines.
  • Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
  • If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel.
