THE WOODLANDS, TX – The gastro brainchild of a late local foodie has entered its 21st year as an area favorite. Houston Restaurant Weeks, the largest annual fundraiser for America’s largest food bank, began August 1 and is running through Labor Day, September 2.

More than 400 Houston-area restaurants participate in the event, with approximately two dozen in The Woodlands area, dedicated to providing delicious meals and super deals raising necessary funds for the Houston Food Bank for five solid weeks. The event features an extensive list of the most popular restaurants that participate and serve specially priced, multi-course prix fixe menus for brunch ($25), lunch ($25), or dinner ($39 or $55), available for dine-in and take-out.

From Katy to Galveston and from the Woodlands all the way down to Sugarland and everywhere in between, amazing restaurants are supporting the cause and mission of the event’s beloved founder, Cleverley Stone. Affectionately called “The Diva of Dining,” Stone made it her life’s mission to beat hunger in Houston. “Dine Out & Do Good” was Stone’s mantra, and her tireless efforts spurred an annual citywide boom in restaurant revenues and contributions to Houston Food Bank. She founded Houston Restaurant Weeks in 2003.

Stone was a 26-year restaurant correspondent and former host of “The Cleverley Food Talk Radio Show,” a freewheeling talk show about food, wine, dining, and issues influencing the food scene at national and local levels. A Who’s Who of celebrity chefs, restaurant industry illuminati, stars of The Food Network and journalists made guest appearances alongside up-and-coming local chefs and restaurateurs. This led to her being a popular contributor to FOX26/KRIV Morning News in Houston for many years.

Houston Restaurant Weeks is carried on by her daughter Katie Stone in memory of her mother, who passed away in 2020 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Stone’s wish was that the event continue in perpetuity in her name. In 2020, Katie Stone established The Cleverley Stone Foundation, which exists to continue her mission and legacy by supporting Houstonians in need by producing Houston Restaurant Weeks and its sister event, Eat Drink HTX.

The economic impact of Houston Restaurant Weeks translates into millions of dollars for the local economy in August, historically the worst month of the year for Houston restaurants. Now, it’s their most profitable month of the year.

To partake in the event, search for and find a restaurant from the official list of participating businesses at https://houstonrestaurantweeks.com/. Then, choose your option of brunch, lunch or dinner, all with a prix fixe menu, then make your reservation for anytime between now and September 2. Once you dine there, portions of the cost of your meals are donated to Houston Food Bank. Brunch and Lunch both cost $25 each, of which $3 is donated, resulting in nine meals generated for the food bank. Your two dinner options of $39 and $55 result in a per-meal donation of $5 and $7, respectively, generating between 15 and 21 meals.
