CONROE, TX -- Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas (Habitat MCTX) is pleased to announce the addition of three individuals to its Board of Directors. These additions enhance the organization’s commitment to constructing secure, respectable, affordable homes for local families. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Habitat MCTX’s ongoing efforts to create strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Todd Drake is an accomplished attorney with over twenty years of experience in land use entitlements, construction transactions, and environmental compliance. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington and a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, Todd brings a wealth of legal expertise to the board. His current role at Howard Hughes Holdings, Inc., handling design and construction transactions, and his commitment to community and family, make him a valuable addition to our team.

Laura Powers leads a 5-star rated luxury real estate team and is recognized for her achievements, including being listed in the 2021 & 2023 Wall Street Journal’s America’s Best List and selling some of the most expensive homes in Houston. With a BBA in finance from Baylor University and over a decade of experience in systems consulting and executive training, Laura brings extensive business acumen to the board. Her deep connection with clients and a commitment to philanthropy, demonstrated through her leadership roles and volunteer work with various community organizations, will greatly benefit our mission.

Matt Powers is the founder and leader of Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations, a premier luxury custom builder in Texas. With nearly 30 years of experience in the Houston market and both a BBA and MBA from Baylor University, Matt’s expertise in real estate and home building is invaluable. His dedication to creating safe, beautiful homes aligns perfectly with Habitat’s mission. Matt's leadership experience, including serving on the Executive Board of Woodlands Christian Academy and helping it grow significantly, will be instrumental in our efforts.

Habitat MCTX is excited to have Todd, Laura and Matt on our board, and we look forward to the positive impact they will have on our organization and the communities we serve. “We are so very thankful to our community of volunteers that generously give of their time, talents and treasures to advance this critical and necessary vision and mission for our neighbors in our community,” stated executive director, Vicki Johnson.
