THE WOODLANDS, TX – Four board of director positions for The Woodlands Township are on the ballot for the upcoming elections in November, and seven candidates have thrown their hats into the ring. Of the four slots open, three have more than one person running for the position; only Linda Nelson, the incumbent for Position 2, is running unopposed.

Position 2’s Linda Nelson is the sole unopposed candidate for the Nov 5 election

The filing deadline passed for candidates to be formally considered. Write-in candidates for the board have until this Friday afternoon to submit their applications for consideration. Of the people who had filed to run, only one petition was refused for reasons currently unknown. The refused filing was for Gary Paul Dickerson, who had filed to run against Nelson for Position 2.

The other slots up for contention are for Positions 1, 3, and 4. Of those three, incumbents Brad Bailey and Richard Franks are running for reelection; Position 4’s current board member, Kyle Watson, has opted not to run again. The full slate, not counting possible write-in candidates, is:

Position 1 – Brad Bailey (incumbent) and Dylan Gonzales
Position 2 – Linda Nelson (incumbent)
Position 3 – Richard Franks (incumbent) and Elvin Misut
Position 4 – Craig Eissler and Jaime Viteri

Election Day for this race – and numerous others including the 2024 Presidential General Election – is November 5. For local races, early voting commences October 21 and runs through November 1.
