THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Players Theatre Company blows the doors wide open at the Owen Theater for the start of their 2024 - 2025 production season with ‘Rock of Ages.’

Director Cricket Pepper is kicking off this season with this five-time Tony nominated musical, a story of a small town girl, a city boy, and the rockers of Los Angeles trying to save the Sunset Strip from an evil German venture capitalist. This special production showcases a diverse cast of actors and musicians of all age ranges and experience in live theater. Come see the power of community, love, and some metric tons of hairspray take the stage featuring live music from special guest local rock band TailorMaide.

Connor Evers hails from Kingwood to Conroe in search of “a real community-based theater,” and – after playing “Patrick” in The Players’ production of Nickelodeon’s ‘The SpongeBob Musical’ – he’s going to bring all the power vocals and comedic wit to his role as the good-guy rocker, Drew. With the support from his father, Mitch Evers, the lead vocalist of TailorMaide, and his very own self-taught guitar skills, Connor is all set to jam out to his father’s age of music in a multi-generational celebration.

The spunky heroine, Sherrie, is played by Meredith Fisk, who is doubling as co-music director with Paulina Guerra. She’s a true Players Theatre vet who’s been in numerous other Players productions such as “Into the Woods,” “Brightstar,” and (fittingly enough) “School of Rock.” She wants Conroe to “be ready to go back in time” because this dynamic duo is ready to turn back the clock and belt their hearts out in search of stardom and maybe even love.

Alongside Drew is the hilarious narrator Lonny, played by Robben Montez. Robben is excited to play off of his real-life friend Connor on the Owen stage having rediscovered his love for musical theater and the dad-rock genre. Having grown up with family connections to the Crighton, Robben is pursuing acting as a profession and broadening his comedic skills through Lonny. He believes “doing theatre is a privilege and an honor” and is working hard to bring all the drama and humor to the show.

Rounding out our main cast, no show is complete without an antagonist. Las Vegas native Scott Allison is a former firefighter and radio/TV MC who has been welcomed to The Players family with open arms, and can now add the role of the villainous show-stopper Hertz Klinemann (his debut live theatre role) to his already fascinating track record; stating, “I love the community, there’s a Texas pride I’m so happy to be a part of.”

So, if you’re an original ’80s hair-band fanatic, a top-40s normie, or even a musical theater purist, this show has something for everyone to enjoy and discover in this blast to the past. Come join the band as they try to save the culture and the music of rock and roll.

Get ready to hear these actors’ most anticipated tracks, such as:

  • “High Enough” – Damn Yankees
  • “Here I Go Again” – Whitesnake
  • “Harden My Heart/Shadows Of The Night” (Mash-Up) – Quarterflash / Pat Benatar “I Want To Know What Love Is” – Foreigner

All performed live on stage by the explosive Houston area country-rock ensemble TailorMaide.

‘Rock of Ages’ opens with The Players Theatre Company at The Owen Theatre in Conroe September 6 - 22. All Friday / Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Matinees begin at 2:00 p.m.
