THE WOODLANDS, TX -- As part of ongoing intersection and mobility improvements, Precinct 3 Commissioner Noack’s Office will start a project along westbound Woodlands Parkway this fall.

Plans are to add a third through lane of westbound traffic on Woodlands Parkway from just east of Kuykendahl Road to Lake Woodlands Drive by the Sterling Ridge Village Center.

This is the third phase of improvements at the Woodlands Parkway-Kuykendahl Road intersection in a little over a year. In the summer of 2023, Precinct 3 worked with contractor Teamwork to construct a second left-turn lane from southbound Kuykendahl Road onto eastbound Woodlands Parkway. The turn lanes also were extended to add more storage and enable more vehicles to clear the intersection during each signal cycle.

Later that summer, the precinct worked to extend the left-turn storage from westbound Woodlands Parkway onto southbound Kuykendahl Road.

The upcoming project will add the third through lane on westbound Woodlands Parkway at Kuykendahl Road, while keeping the dedicated right-turn lane onto northbound Kuykendahl Road and eliminating the raised median separating the right-turn lane and the through lanes. The additional lane will continue west to Lake Woodlands Drive, where it will become the existing right-turn lane onto Lake Woodlands Drive.

The project will provide better access into the Sterling Ridge Village Center from Woodlands Parkway, including a dedicated right-turn lane at the main entrance to the village center.

Temporary traffic signals are in operation for this project; and a new signal pole and mast arm will be installed at the conclusion of the widening project.

The precinct is working to relocate utilities in conflict with the project prior to start of construction.
