THE WOODLANDS, TX – Ritch Wheeler, who won the recent municipal election to become the Commissioner-elect of Precinct 3 in Montgomery County, recently hosted a special community breakfast event at Community Fieldhouse, a sports complex, restaurant, bar, and event center servicing the Spring / Woodlands area. Woodlands Online was there to ask some early-morning questions.

What exactly is this event?

Good morning! It’s awesome; it’s kind of the first opportunity to get to know some of the folks in the community. I just wanted to make myself available to anybody in the community that wanted to come up and introduce themselves.

Is this the first of many such events?

Absolutely, yeah. Actually, my plan is to do one of these in the fall and one of these in the spring. Going forward, hopefully that works out. We’ll see what the schedule is. But that’s my plan.

How is the groundwork before assuming the office in January coming along? Are all your plans coming to fruition?

Yes and no. I’ve been getting some personal plans set in place. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much of a transition plan with the current county commissioner. I’m just really looking forward to January 1st, looking forward to working with all of the county staff that I’ve met so far. I’ve met a ton of great people in the county and we have some incredible county staff that I’m really looking forward to working with.

We also have some very involved residents that I'm looking forward to working with. I mean, so far I haven’t even taken office yet and I’ve had a lot of folks interact with me and reach out to me, to invite me to meet with them. It just shows how involved and how concerned our residents are. And that’s a good thing. You want people to be involved. It’s about us as a community. And so the fact that I've already had this many people reach out to me is fantastic.
