THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Spring Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in The Woodlands hosted Judge Jimmie C. Edwards at their October meeting. Judge Edwards shared the status of current projects and future plans for the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park in Conroe. This park is Judge Edwards passion to honor all our country’s veterans. We encourage everyone in Montgomery County to visit the park as Veteran’s Day approaches and support the park financially if able.

Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR supports veterans.

Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR also recognized Sue Downs with a DAR Distinguished Citizens Medal at their October 10th meeting. This medal may be presented to an individual or group that exemplifies honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism. Sue Downs served in the Army in Afghanistan and sacrificed both her legs below the knee as well as suffered lacerated organs, traumatic brain injury and PTSD when her Humvee was struck by five landmines powered by a rocket propelled grenade. Sues recovery has been long and arduous, but she continues to serve championing the return home experience of all veterans with personal background for the returning female veteran.
Sue Downes has demonstrated the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism and has contributed to the defense and security and thereby the freedom of community, state or nation in an exceptional manner. Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR is proud to have recognized her with the DAR Distinguished Citizens Medal.

Spring Creek Chapter also recognized all the husbands of members who served in Vietnam with certificates and pins.

As Veteran’s Day approaches, we encourage everyone to recognize and honor veterans in our community. If you are interested in joining DAR please contact Spring Creek Chapter at SpringCreekDAR@gmail.com
