HS Football Playoffs: The Woodlands Falls to Duncanville in the Regional Semifinals

HUTTO, TX – The Woodlands Highlanders (11-1) took on the Duncanville Panthers (11-0) in the Regional Semifinals at Hutto Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Woodlands fought hard but in the end the Panthers were able to secure the win 42-20.

In the first quarter Duncanville received the ball first and began their drive down the field. Pushing The Woodlands defense, the Panthers were able to convert on their first possession.

The Woodlands would try to answer but were stopped and the ball would turn over on downs to Duncanville.

By the end of the first quarter, Duncanville would have a comfortable 14-0 lead but The Woodlands would quickly answer back in the second quarter.

The Woodlands would chip away at the lead with a Starzyk field goal making it 21-10 heading into the half.

The Highlanders would receive the ball in the second half and make quick work making it down the field to the 19. Once again Starzyk would put the ball through the uprights making the score 21-13.

The Panthers would answer back with another touchdown and that was it for the third quarter. Both teams were held to just one score making it 28-13 heading into the final quarter.

In the final quarter, The Woodlands would strike first with a Dalton to Stephenson touchdown. The Woodlands would try to chip away at the lead but the Panthers would break through the Highlander defense.

With 10 minutes left to go, the Panthers would score giving them a 35-20 lead.

Final score at Hutto Memorial Stadium would be 42-20 with Duncanville moving on to play the winner of Waxahachie and Bridgeland.
