The Woodlands resident sworn in as new Director of the Texas Lyceum

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Woodlands resident Jerrod Jones was recently sworn in as a new Director of The Texas Lyceum, the Lone Star State’s premier non-profit, non-partisan, statewide leadership organization.

Jones is a Senior Public Affairs Advisor at Apache Corporation, where he navigates complex policy and regulatory matters to support the company’s strategic initiatives. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University, a Certificate of Advanced International Studies from Texas A&M University, and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. Committed to community service, he has served as Secretary of the Cochran's Crossing Village Association and as a volunteer attorney with the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project.

The Texas Lyceum welcomed 25 other business and civic leaders from across the state as new Directors of the organization. The incoming Directors were sworn in alongside the new president, Crayton Webb, at the Lyceum’s annual Investiture ceremony on the Senate Floor of the State Capitol Building on Thursday, January 30. Each Director was selected in recognition of their commitment to leadership, service, and dedication to fostering dialogue and cultivating civic engagement across Texas.

“Welcoming these exceptional individuals into the Texas Lyceum is both an honor and a responsibility we take seriously. Each Director has pledged to serve as a steward of our great state, to cultivate leadership, and to approach the challenges facing Texas with dedication, thoughtfulness, and civility,” said Webb. “At a time when respectful dialogue and innovative thinking are more crucial than ever, we are inspired by the commitment of these new Directors to uphold the values and mission of the Lyceum. Together, we will work to shape the future of Texas.”

Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the Lyceum launched a national “Campaign for Civility,” calling on elected officials at all levels of government nationwide to embrace civil discourse as they conduct the business of government. As the organization continues its legacy of bringing together civic and business leaders of diverse opinions and expertise to find common ground, these 26 new directors join the Lyceum at a pivotal moment, reinforcing its commitment to fostering robust and civil discourse on state and national issues.

At any given time, the Lyceum has 96 active directors and a robust alumni network. Notable Lyceum alumni include President George W. Bush, U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and Kay Bailey Hutchison, Governors Greg Abbott and Rick Perry, U.S. Congressmen Chris Bell, Pete Gallegos, Marc Veasey, Sheila Jackson Lee, Chancellor John Sharp and countless others who have gone on to major elected and appointed public service accomplishments to lead substantial corporate, non-profit, educational or civic organizations.

The Texas Lyceum is the premier non-profit, non-partisan, statewide leadership organization focused on identifying the next generation of top Texas leaders. The organization has 96 active Directors from around the state, and alumni go on to serve our communities, state, and nation in significant ways.
