The Woodlands Fire Department Responds to Power Lines Down on Vehicles
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On Saturday evening at approximately 8:15 PM, The Woodlands Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of North Windvale and Highway 242 in response to reports of power lines down on top of a vehicle. Firefighters from Truck 104, Rescue 101, Battalion 102, and Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) Medic 27 quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found two vehicles trapped beneath downed utility lines. Multiple utility poles had snapped, and all temporary traffic signals in the intersection—where ongoing road construction is taking place—were also down. Firefighters worked diligently to cut several wires, ensuring safe access to the vehicles and successfully removing the occupants.
The individuals involved were evaluated by MCHD personnel, and all declined transport to the hospital. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is currently rerouting traffic, and the intersection will remain closed for several hours to allow for cleanup and repairs.
At this time, the cause of the fallen wires remains unknown. Authorities urge motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
