THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The 2024-25 season has been a gauntlet of matchups for the teams of 13-6A as they make their optimistic pushes toward the upcoming postseason.

The major frontrunners have already separated themselves from the rest of the pack with just a few weeks left in the regular season. Teams like College Park and The Woodlands were expecting to return to the promised land, but new faces have seen some shakeups in the season-ending standings.

Here are the top four teams in 13-6A and their current standings as the season enters its final two weeks.

1st College Park Cavaliers

College Park took command of their schedule following an opening eight-week stretch to district play that saw the team tally seven wins and one tie. This starting surge and continued high-level play throughout the season has rewarded the Cavs with the strongest case for claiming the district title.

Conroe can still threaten should the Cavaliers drop at least two of their next three games, but the top-80 team in Texas has held firm by sweeping teams like Oak Ridge, Willis, and Caney Creek with wins.

Threats like The Woodlands can still avenge previous losses, but all the Cavs need to do to secure their district title is finish the year playing the way they already have: high-scoring with tremendous defense.

2nd Conroe Tigers

Despite being a part of a tight race for second, Conroe has managed to keep above the teams around them by scrapping and contending with everyone they face.

Tough losses to College Park and Grand Oaks near the start of district play did set the Tigers back for a time. However, a strong surge through the midpoint of district play has seen Conroe build a streak of eight-straight unbeaten matches.

The biggest win for Conroe was their February 13th win over the Cavaliers that avenged a previous defeat while getting the team ahead of The Woodlands, whom they also beat by a score of 3-2 the week prior.

Key wins have been crucial in keeping the Tigers afloat. More down the stretch can boost the team into the top spot in Division One play for the playoffs; all they have to do is finish with a handful of strong performances.

3rd The Woodlands Highlanders

Tough sledding for The Woodlands throughout district play has put the previous season’s district champions on a slightly backward trajectory. But despite the losses, the Highlanders have fought tooth and nail to keep the postseason dream alive.

Head-scratching ties and deflating losses are a few of the many culprits that have kept the Highlanders from reaching their previous high mark as district overlords. Back-to-back draws against the Grizzlies dropped some measures of hope, while losses to Conroe and rivialing College Park have also sucked the wind from The Woodlands’ sails.

However, the players and coaches have salvaged a positive force by taking care of business against the lower parts of the district. Winning sweeps over Caney Creek, Willis, and Cleveland have given valuable wins to a Highlander program that has locked itself into the expected standard of upcoming playoff soccer.

4th Grand Oaks Grizzlies

Scrappy play against some of the district’s best has kept the Grizzlies inside of the playoff picture, but a handful of bitter losses has blurred the vision ahead of the final weeks of play.

Holding onto the fourth placed spot ahead of Caney Creek, the Grizzlies have ridden the waves of wins against teams like Conroe and ties versus The Woodlands to maneuver into playoff position.

With the most ties in all of 13-6A, Grand Oaks has locked in its grindy style of play for an optimistic run at the playoffs, where they will likely claim the spot as the second representative in the Division Two bracket.
