Sandee June to perform current hit, “Hurricane,” at the 5th Annual Bon Temps Rouler Cajun Throwdown in La Marque this Saturday, March 22
SANTA FE, TX -- Fast-rising Texas country artist Sandee June is making a splash with her latest single, “Hurricane,” her highest-charting debut on Texas radio to date. Her soulful country take on Levon Helm’s classic entered the Texas Regional Radio Report at No. 50 and soared to No. 29 in just four weeks—proof of the song’s growing momentum and June’s ability to captivate listeners with her signature, traditional sound. Fans can catch her performing “Hurricane” and more this Saturday, March 22, from 11 a.m. until noon, at the 5th Annual Bon Temps Rouler Cajun Throwdown in La Marque.
The event benefits Bon Temps Rouler Caring for Kids Foundation (BTR CFK), a Texas-based organization that focuses on aiding kids and their families receiving treatment at UTMB-Galveston, among other things.
June, a lifelong Santa Fe resident, is thrilled to be among the entertainers to perform in the event close to her hometown.
“I love playing out on the road, but there is something special about playing for neighbors and playing for a great cause,” said June. “I feel honored to be a part of this show.”
June is also excited to play her new song live on the Cajun Throwdown stage.
“‘Hurricane’ holds a deep personal connection for me, and to see it climb the charts so quickly is incredibly exciting,” said June.
More than just a cover, “Hurricane” serves as a heartfelt tribute to June’s strong family ties to New Orleans and Galveston, places where storms have played a defining role in her family history. Her mother’s side of the family—her grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother—all hailed from New Orleans, where storytelling was a cherished tradition.
“I would sit around with them and listen to them talk. They would tell stories about ‘way back when’ and talk about what they did during the storms. My grandmother was in Galveston during Hurricane Carla in 1961. I have an attachment to the storytelling of this song. It reminds me of the days sitting with these ladies,” added June.
With her signature heartfelt delivery, June brings the soul and storytelling power of generations before her into “Hurricane”—giving it new life on the Texas country scene.
