The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra presents ‘Fairy Tales: LIVE’
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will be at Christ Church Methodist for a magical event filled with enchanting stories and whimsical adventures. Get ready to be transported to a world of fantasy and wonder as the WSO brings classical fairy tales to life.
The symphony’s most family-friendly performance to date, ‘Fairy Tales: LIVE,’ presents Mozart’s iconic overture to ‘The Magic Flute,’ Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ with a special guest narrator, Dukas’ ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ from Fantasia, and Strauss’ ‘Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks,’ the medieval story of a clever and mischievous trickster.
Online advance sale tickets for the concert are highly recommended. Go to www.woodlandsfairytales.eventbrite.com for your choice of adult admission, student tickets, and a limited number of reserved seats in the VIP section. Students will also receive a free Young Artist Sketchbook and colored pencils to cartoon their own story while listening to the symphony perform.
In a recent interview, Artistic Director of the WSO Darryl Bayer had this to say about ‘Fairy Tales: LIVE – “Bring your children into the magical world of music through these beloved fairy tales. This concert will ignite their imagination, while introducing them to the beauty and powerful sounds of your Woodlands Symphony. A concert like this doesn’t just entertain; it plants the seeds of creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.”
"I love sparking the curiosity of young classical enthusiasts," said Maestro Bayer. For example, in this concert I may ask questions such as, ‘What makes Mozart’s flute magic? Were Till Eulenspiegel’s pranks merry or mischievous? Did the Sorcerer’s Apprentice ask for more than he could handle? Was Peter, the brave boy from ‘Peter and the Wolf,’ the first ever animal rights activist?’ What a joy to hear their creative and unfiltered answers.”
“Part of the WSO’s mission over 10 years ago was to ensure we were reaching multiple generations of audiences,” explained Bayer. “Through ‘FairyTales: LIVE’ and future community outreach chamber concerts, we continue to entertain both the young and the young at heart.”
This performance is made possible by ongoing support from The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Howard Hughes, and generous donations from The Woodlands Symphony’s loyal fans. For information on other upcoming performances and to make a tax-deductible donation, visit www.woodlandssymphony.org.
