With the holidays coming soon, many of us start thinking about ways to refresh and rejuvenate our skin so we can look and feel our best. At Rivela Plastic Surgery, we’re excited to offer a revolutionary treatment that’s perfect for this time of year. Tixel is an innovative procedure can help combat signs of aging, improve skin texture, and even address concerns like rosacea, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a fresh start to undo any summer sun damage and be ready long before it’s time to take photos.

The Science Behind Tixel

Tixel is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses thermal energy to stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin quality. Unlike traditional laser treatments, Tixel employs a unique technology known as Thermo-Mechanical Action (TMA) to deliver controlled heat to the skin’s surface.

The Tixel device features a small, heated metal plate with tiny pyramid-shaped pins. When applied to the skin, these pins create microscopic channels, triggering the body’s natural healing response and promoting collagen production. This process results in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

Benefits of Tixel Treatment

Tixel offers numerous benefits for those looking to improve their skin’s appearance, including but not limited to:

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves skin texture and tone
  • Minimizes the appearance of acne scars
  • Tightens and firms skin
  • Can be used to treat rosacea
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Minimal downtime compared to more invasive procedures

Why Fall is the Perfect Time for Tixel

Though temperatures don’t fall much in the fall, schedules tend to change and your aesthetic goals and focuses will shift. Choosing a treatment like Tixel during the fall season can have a variety of benefits.

Less Sun Exposure

With shorter days later in the year, you’re likely to spend less time outside in the sun and so your skin is less likely to be exposed to harsh UV rays, which can be crucial for proper healing after treatment. You’re also likelier to stay closer to home and not be out for vacation as much, which can have an impact on overall skin health.

No Time to Heal

Schedules tend to get busy around the holiday season, so a surgical rejuvenation procedure may not feasible for you. Tixel requires no downtime and any redness or flaking will be cleared up within a week, giving yourself plenty of time for your skin to recover and reveal its renewed glow without impacting your ability to accomplish what you need to do.

Prepare for the Holidays

By starting your Tixel treatments in the fall, you’ll be ready to show off your refreshed, radiant skin during the holiday season. Ideal results are achieved after 3 treatments, each spaced about a month apart, but results will be seen after just 1 treatment as well.

Who is a Good Candidate for Tixel?

Tixel is suitable for a wide range of individuals, including those with:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Acne scars
  • Sun damage
  • Rosacea

If you’re suffering from any of these skin conditions, or various others, Tixel could be an excellent option to consider. However, it’s essential to consult with a board-certified physician like Dr. Rivela to determine if Tixel is the right choice for your specific skin needs and concerns.

The Tixel Treatment Process

When you visit Rivela Plastic Surgery for a Tixel treatment, you can expect a pretty standard process from the time you walk in the door to the time you walk out post-treatment.

Consultation

Dr. Rivela will assess your skin and discuss your goals to determine if Tixel is right for you. Most candidates that are interested in Tixel will qualify, as it is safe for all skin types and can be used on those with darker skin tones. There are 3 different options for Tixel, depending on your specific skincare needs: full ablative, medium ablative, and open channel. These options vary in strength and will be used to target different areas of concern.

Preparation & Treatment

Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied for your comfort. The Tixel device will then be passed over the treatment area, delivering controlled thermal energy to your skin. Each treatment session will last between 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Post-Treatment Care

You’ll receive instructions on how to care for your skin in the days following the procedure. While you may experience some redness and mild swelling immediately after the procedure, these effects typically subside within a few days. You may also see some “micro crusts” develop across your face following treatment, but these can be covered with makeup and will resolve themselves within 3-5 days with no further action needed.
