At long last, it appears that our two-month drought is coming to an end. While burn bands remain in effect, we can look forward to some skies that are greyer, streets that are slicker, and air and lawns that are wetter.

For the rest of your Monday, the temps are all downhill from here; we’ve just hit our high of 87, and the pressure and humidity are both about to drop. The skies will remain half-filled with clouds as we plummet down in temps to  hit the mid 70s well before midnight.

Tuesday morning the winds and clouds will both increase in tandem, and right around eight in the morning the temps will begin to soar and quickly reach a high of 87 once again. Though cloudy and dank, chances are you won’t see any rain today or tonight as the low of 72 creeps in.

The warmer-than-usual air will take a turn on Wednesday as the chances of a thunderstorm increase with every hour from dawn on. After lunchtime, the rains will hit their peak, bolstered by mounting winds getting up to around 15 mph. We should receive about a half an inch of the wet stuff. The high will be a few degrees cooler, but by no means frigid.

Later Wednesday night, the rains will lull for a while, then kick back in full force for a Thursday filled with precipitation. Another third of an inch will fall throughout the day; the rains may not be as forceful, but they’ll be consistent until late at night. The Thursday high will be around 83 degrees, and we’ll finally get back down into the 60s for the low. The dampness may put a damper on your Halloween plans, but check out our Halloween Guide for lots of indoor ideas. Overnight, the rains may die down for a while.

Friday morning, however, the thunder will roll once again as scattered storms dot the area. About a quarter of an inch will drop, so we’re in no danger of flooding, but the ground will be pretty saturated by then, so beware the slick roads when you’re driving. The high temperature will waver between 79 and 80, so you can fully embrace that autumn feel

Those who have been bemoaning the drought can now grouse about the fact that these rains and storms will most likely stick with us all weekend long and into next week…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
