Our Story Part II

Richard jumped into our new adventure with both feet. He has always been a motivated and determined person that never gives up and is willing to try something once. He’s the risk taker and I’m the cautious one. I was a little wary but I thought, “why not” let’s do it. I didn’t have a big role in the restaurant since I was still teaching and our children were young. The first few years were good as we gained experience and grew the business. Owning a small business is no cakewalk. It takes a lot of hard work and there’s never really a day off. The payoff is knowing we have a wonderful business venture and making customers happy.

During the pandemic in 2020 we learned a whole new lesson about perseverance! I taught myself to bake and decorate. I learned to bake from my mother in my childhood, but I knew I needed to take it to another level to pursue my new passion even further.

Fast forward to 2022. I decided it was time to leave teaching and pursue my new passion in baking and decorating. I started baking for the restaurant. That fall my mother passed away and I realized life is just too short. She always inspired me to pursue my dreams and always supported me in anything I did. A couple of months after her passing I took the reigns on the restaurant. I jumped right in to not only baking but managing and coordinating the events for the restaurant. This is definitely my second calling. Who says you can’t have a second career later in life? I couldn’t be happier and the restaurant is thriving!! It is such a pleasure to see it grow with the help of an amazing staff and wonderful customers. This story is not over yet…it has only begun, again. There is so much more to come!!
