NEW CANEY, TX -- On Monday, June 26, 2023, at approximately 4:05 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Theft (in-progress) call located at a 7-Eleven at the 22800 block of Highway 242 in New Caney, Texas. Responding Deputies along with the assistance of the Splendora Police Department, Patton Village Police Department, and New Caney ISD Police Department, located the suspect vehicle at the fuel pump with the driver still inside. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Yander Placeres-Reyna of Houston, Texas. As a result of the investigation, it was learned that Placeres was bypassing the fuel pump’s security measures, stealing several gallons of fuel. Placeres is also believed to be associated with at least 34 other fuel thefts in the area.

Placeres was ultimately arrested and charged with felony theft, where he was then transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

We would like to thank the Splendora Police Department, Patton Village Police Department, and New Caney ISD Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of the suspect.
