Vitacca Ballet's Announces 2023/2024 Season: SOWN / WOVEN / ONE

HOUSTON, TX -- Vitacca Ballet’s Artistic Director Kelly Ann Vitacca is pleased to announce the 2023/2024 season. Vitacca Ballet brings five world premieres, plus two unique Houston premieres from choreographers Garrett Smith, Hélène Simoneau, Robyn Mineko-Williams, Tina Kay Bohnstedt, Sean Aaron Carmon, and Ethan Colangelo. Houston’s own Alana Jones (Vitacca alumni) and Brandi Garza/Ashkan Media will collaborate to co-create a film for dance to premiere in April 2024. Plus, the return of Vitacca Ballet’s The Nutcracker at The Woodlands Resort and the exciting continuation of Garrett Smith’s 2022/23 season work, Hypnotic Forces.

SOWN further roots Vitacca Ballet into the Houston arts scene on October 20-21, 2023, at 7:30pm at MATCH. Vitacca Ballet continues to knit its artistic voice this 2023/24 Season within WOVEN on February 24, 2024, at 7:00pm at The Charles Bender Performing Arts Center. Along with many audience favorites, the extended creation of Hypnotic Forces by Garrett Smith and Muse by Artistic Director Kelly Ann Vitacca return to stage.

This season strives to meld patron and artist with a mutual experience on and off the stage to further explore the art of dance and the symbiotic relationship of life and art. Ms. Vitacca comments, “Vitacca Ballet focuses on creating world premiere contemporary ballets that are approachable which bring patron and artist together in a relatable experience. This provides a rebirth of understanding of the art of dance. Our goal is to root our company into the Houston dance community while we grow and mature along with our patron base.”

This season brings diverse, artistic minds together with the exciting growth of our company including the return of our beloved company artists, Maddie Medina, Coltin Snyder, Fiona Dorr, Jordan Hooks, Joshua Ponton, , Elissa Fonesca, International Guest Khen Kurulkar and new company artists Megumi Nishimori, Aidan Wolf, Nikolas Darrough, Elena Damiani, Ava Dempster, Zephaniah Casey, and Carrington Moser.
