THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township, with support from Bike The Woodlands Coalition, will host several activities throughout the month of May in celebration of National Bike Month, in efforts to create a better community through bicycling.

New for this year, Bike to Work Week will take place on Wednesday, May 15 through Friday, May 17, 2024, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at various locations. Bike commuters are invited to meet for refreshments and bike commuting information. Businesses are invited to get involved by forming an employee bike convoy or Bike to Work Week group. Don’t forget to submit your company’s information to the online form HERE no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, May 17. Awards will be given for Most Spirited and Best Participation for Bike to Work Week groups. Cultivate a bike commuter-friendly environment by promoting Bike to Work Week among your employees!

The culmination of Bike Month will be the Bands, Badges & Bikes event, taking place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Produced alongside the Township’s Neighborhood Services Department, the event will honor first responders with a free evening of live music by the Level One Band, a kids’ bike rodeo, food trucks, children’s activities, safety demonstrations and more. Consider biking to the event with friends, neighbors and family, and enjoy a Moonlight Ride, offering a Pathways Ride and Adult Ride, immediately following the event.

Other activities throughout the month of May include social rides for all levels of riders, bike maintenance and educational workshops, a ride challenge and more.

A limited quantity of Bike The Woodlands T-shirts will be available to participants registering for Bike Month activities. Shirts can be picked up during Bike to Work Week at various locations, or at the Bands, Badges & Bikes event.

Helmets are mandatory for all riding events, and registration is strongly encouraged to save a spot for a chosen activity. View the Event Guide and register online for events at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/bike.

In addition to support from Bike The Woodlands Coalition, the month-long celebration is produced by The Woodlands Township and made possible by the following sponsors: Huntsman, Bikeland of The Woodlands and TXTRI.
