SPRING, TX -- On May 24, 2024, at about 8:20 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported family violence incident involving an individual armed with a knife. Upon arrival, Deputies encountered a male subject who refused all verbal commands to drop the knife and surrender.

The individual, known to have a history of mental health issues, was reportedly experiencing a manic episode, prompting his family to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Despite efforts to de-escalate the situation, the suspect advanced toward the deputies with the knife. Fearing for their safety, one Deputy discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. Tragically, the individual succumbed to his injuries at the scene. None of the deputies were injured during the incident. The deceased has been identified as Kedrayn Blueford 21 years of age.

This shooting is under thorough investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit, along with Crime Scene Investigators, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.

Sheriff Rand Henderson issued the following statement:
"Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual involved in tonight’s tragic incident. We are profoundly saddened by this loss and understand the immense grief and pain the family is experiencing.
