Two Woodlands residents selected in nationwide talent search

THE WOODLANDS, TX – A singing aunt-niece duo from The Woodlands were selected in the global Walmart Associate Talent Search and were one of five associate acts to perform alongside artists like Lizzo, Imagine Dragons, Kacey Musgraves, The Backstreet Boys, and Usher at Walmart’s Associate Celebration in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Juanette Villagomez (known as ‘Nette’) and Leischeng Saures (known as ‘Lei’) were selected for the top five performers in a competition that uncovered amazing talent amongst more than two million associates in stores, clubs, and distribution centers worldwide. Between them, they work at the Walmarts on College Park Drive and Riley Fuzzel Road. At the competition, the duo sang a cover of ‘Love Will Keep Us Alive.’

The Walmart Associate Talent Search is a friendly annual competition to help discover and appreciate the amazing talent of the company’s 2.1 million associates in 20 countries around the globe. The talent search competition officially opened on February 19 of this year, when associates were able to submit their entries online.

Before competing, both women celebrated their heritage as native Pacific Islanders by singing traditional tunes. The competition also featured surprise guests, including Peyton Manning as emcee and Robert Downey Jr. with an unannounced appearance.
