THE WOODLANDS, TX – Lone Star College-Montgomery today broke ground on a highly anticipated new campus, the Lone Star College-Magnolia Center. Construction on this full-service satellite educational facility is slated to be completed in December of 2025 with anticipated academic instruction set to commence Spring of 2026 with two programs to start with – HVAC and EMSP.

The center will be located at 1280 Escondido Drive in Magnolia at the corner of FM 1774 and FM 1486, across the street from Magnolia West High School.

“The Lone Star College-Magnolia Center will be a state-of-the-art center offering various academic and workforce programs leading to an associate degree, certifications, or transferable credit hours to a four-year university,” said De’ Reese Reid-Hart, Ed.D., LSC-Montgomery president. “Lone Star College and Lone Star College-Montgomery are excited to open the center to support the needs of the Magnolia community.”

The Lone Star College-Magnolia Center is a result of the $485 million bond referendum approved by voters a decade ago. Coming in at nearly 52,000 square feet and an approximately cost of $34 million, it will offer amenities and services such as a commons area, community meeting space, student support services, a library, a testing center, and instructional classrooms.

County Commissioner Charlie Riley was at the groundbreaking event and spoke with Woodlands Online. “This is going to be very, very important for this area. It’s exciting. We’ve been waiting for this for four or five years now. The proximity of this site to Magnolia West High School, you couldn’t have picked a better location,” he said.

The architecture firm for the center is Harrison Kornberg; construction management is by Tellepsen Builders, and engineering and construction done by Harrison Kornberg Architects.
