THE WOODLANDS, TX – What with this being the 50th anniversary of the establishment of The Woodlands, the Township is chock full of events within its borders, including Wednesday’s Star-Spangled Salute with the Houston Symphony at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and the July 4 parade and multiple official fireworks celebrations. But there are also additional and alternate events happening around the area in case you want to sample some patriotic fun outside of the Township boundaries.

Additional and alternate places to celebrate the day

Oak Ridge North
On Thursday, Oak Ridge North – just on the other side of I-45 – is proud to present its annual 4th of July Parade, Party in the Park, and Car Show. This trifecta of fun starts at 10 a.m. with the parade, then followed by both the party and car show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marilyn Edgar Park. All events are free.

Shenandoah
City officials obviously checked out the Woodlands Online weather report, because they’re concentrating on indoor fun for the July 4 holiday. Both Dave & Buster’s and Main Event are open for regular business hours on Thursday. At D&B, experience the latest and greatest games, ultimate sports-viewing, extraordinary food, and remarkable drinks; and at Main Event you can bowl a few games, play billiards, laser tag, and video and virtual reality games. Also, don't forget to try their summer splashers – delicious drinks topped off with freeze-dried Skittles and whipped cream for an indulgent, multisensory experience.

Lake Conroe
Bentwater Country Club is hosting what is billed as Lake Conroe’s Biggest and Best Independence Day Celebration. Taking place on July 4 at the club, the reservation-only event includes patriotic music, face painters, games galore, a mechanical bull, bounce house, and lots more. Also available is an all-you-can-eat buffet! Takes place 5 - 9 p.m.

The celebrations don’t end Thursday. Grab a boat and head over to the Rock the Dam 4th of July Party on Saturday, July 6. The Chad Cooke Band will play live at the Lake Conroe Dam for this free event with boat access only.

Tomball
Join the July 4th Celebration & Street Fest on Thursday to beat the heat and stay cool at this annual event on Business Highway 249 just north of FM 2920 in Tomball. Enjoy live music, food, and one of the biggest fireworks shows in the area. Free admission and parking to this event with streets filled with music, food, vendors, a cool zone, and a kid’' zone starting at 4:00 p.m. Live music begins at 5:30 p.m. with Barefoot Nation, followed by TilluRide. Coolers are allowed, but no outside alcohol or glass containers may be brought into the festival area.
