Woodlands Fire Department Responds to Hurricane Beryl's Initial Impact
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Fire Department activated the Emergency Operations Center at 7pm Sunday night. TWFD normally has 10 front line companies and 2 Battalion chiefs on duty for a total of 42 firefighters. This was augmented overnight Sunday by 24 A-shift firefighters who came in ahead of their shift and staffed an additional 5 response vehicles. Monday morning the C-shift was held over giving us a total of 70 firefighters staffing 16 companies and 4 battalion chiefs. Fire Dispatch also added 3 additional dispatchers.
From 0600 (first wind/rain) to midnight Monday
Fire Dispatch took 1216 emergency calls for Montgomery County
TWFD responded to 235 Incidents including
81 Service Calls- 35 Trees on Homes, 32 Trees Blocking Roads, 6 downed powerlines
34 EMS calls
19 Gas Calls-mostly caused by gas lines ripped out ground by falling trees
7 Rescues that included 3 Elevator Rescues, 1 water rescue with car in high water, 1- trapped in car by falling tree and 2 - trapped in houses by falling trees

- 9 Carbon Monoxide Alarms
- 5 Medical Alarms
TWFD also responded to numerous calls supporting our neighboring fire departments. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or storm related fatalities reported in The Woodlands. Please check The Woodlands Township for the most up to date info as we continue recovery efforts.
