The John Cooper School unveils state-of-the-art Athletic Center

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The John Cooper School is thrilled to announce its new state-of-the-art Athletic Center, a significant milestone in enhancing athletic opportunities and community engagement.

Located centrally within the school's athletic complex, adjacent to the Pugh Field and Dunlap Gym, Cooper students, faculty and staff, and families are now able to enjoy a new 26,000 square foot modern facility, complete with enhancements and upgrades to support student-athletes.

The John Cooper School Athletic Center includes an expansive training room, a dynamic team room, and a 3,000 square foot weight room. It also includes a fitness studio and cheer studio, and four locker rooms with 300 lockers.

This facility is designed to support all Cooper students. The new athletic facility complements Cooper’s dynamic fine arts buildings and advanced college preparatory environment. Additionally, Cooper has installed a new track surface for the Pate Track and Field, a new field turf for Pugh Field, expanded seating for families and visitors, and a new digital scoreboard.

Key features of the Athletic Center include:

  • Team Room: Equipped with advanced technology for team meetings, film review, and flexible seating arrangements, serving both students and various campus groups.
  • Weight Room: Expanded facilities for strength training and skill development, ensuring students and athletes have access to top-notch equipment.
  • Locker Rooms and Training Facilities: State-of-the-art amenities for athletes and coaches, including hydrotherapy tubs, treatment tables, and a dedicated sports medicine office.
  • Studios for Cheer and Group Fitness: Dedicated spaces for cheer practice, group fitness sessions, and Lower School physical education classes.
  • Outdoor Plaza: Overlooking Pugh Field and Pate Track, ideal for community gatherings and celebrations. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by an opportunity for community members to tour the facility and speak to faculty and staff of The John Cooper School.
