MCTX Sheriff Investigation Following Report from Willis ISD Student- No Threat to Public Safety

WILLIS, TX -- Earlier today, a Willis ISD elementary school student informed her teacher that “there was a bomb at her home that her father intended to take to work.” Following this report, school administration promptly contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers (SROs), who initiated an investigation.

With the assistance of the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), law enforcement confirmed that the object in question, located at the father’s work in Houston, is an inert replica of a World War II-era bomb and is completely harmless. It was determined that there was no active threat, and the situation was resolved without any danger to the public.

We want to reassure the community that at no point was there any threat to the school or its students. The object was never on school property, and the report was handled with the utmost care by both school staff and law enforcement.
