Memorial Hermann The Woodlands recognized by as Top Performer by Vizient

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center recently announced that it has earned national recognition as a top performer in delivering high-quality medical care by Vizient, Inc., the nation’s largest provider-driven health care performance improvement company.

Along with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center (TMC), Memorial Hermann The Woodlands received the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient. Memorial Hermann-TMC ranked No. 6 out of 115 members in the Comprehensive Academic Medical Center cohort, and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands ranked No. 8 out of 177 members in the Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Center cohort. The hospitals were recognized for excellence in delivering high-quality care based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005.

Additionally, the entire Memorial Hermann Health System was recognized as a 2024 top performer in Supplier Diversity Excellence. The health system ranked No. 1 out of 69 members in the Complex Care Medical Center cohort. The award recognizes provider clients across five cohorts on how they champion inclusion in their supply chain and accelerate economic growth in their local community. Selection criteria is based on contract purchases of minority-, woman-, veteran-, LGBT- and disabled person-owned business enterprises as a percentage of a provider client’s Vizient spend.

This year, 860 participating hospitals were segmented into four cohorts for the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study. The study measures performance on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness, and equity of care. The study factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance data from the HCAHPS survey and the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network.

The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The recognition period is for work spanning July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
