THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Grand Oaks boys blow Forney out of the water winning the second round of the water polo playoffs.

The first quarter set the tone for the game as the Grizzlies won the swimoff and immediately went on the offensive. Shortly after, a well-executed assist to Senior Lucas Stapleton resulted in the first goal of the quarter.

Impressive saves by goalkeeper Evan Joncyk prevented Forny from scoring throughout the first quarter.

With a buzzer-beater by Junior Tyler Cloth, the Grizzlies secured a 4-0 lead to end the first quarter.

Heading into the second quarter, the Grizzlies quickly scored after Junior Nathan Schultz won the swim-off and passed the ball to Stapleton. Stapleton's powerful throw played a significant role in the Grizzlies' success throughout the game.

Forney was able to score there first goal, but was blocked of a immediate second one by Joncyk.

Captain Preston Reppassi's exceptional ball IQ was also a significant factor. Throughout the match, his quick transitions to offense and his ability to convert missed opportunities into goals greatly contributed to the Grizzlies' success.

Finishing the first half, the Grizzlies had a 7-2 lead, demonstrating their dominance with sharp offensive plays and solid defense. Their teamwork and strategy were evident, setting up for a quick 2nd half game.

The third and fourth quarters played out much like the first and second. The Grizzlies' offense featured four players on the outside who consistently passed the ball around to throw Forney off. They also had two players on the inside to prevent Forney from blocking their shots.

Forney's side of the stadium was full of energy and cheering, which helped them score three quick goals. The Lady Grizzlies water polo team, who were there to support, brought renewed energy and spirit to the boys, helping them regain momentum and stop Forney from scoring any more goals.

Captain junior Kaio Huseth was a central figure throughout most of the game. His strong blocking and ability to steal the ball and convert it into goals helped lead the Grizzlies to an 18-6 victory.

The Grizzlies are set to play their next playoff game on October 15th, as they fight for a shot at the state tournament.
