THE WOODLANDS, TX –– On Tuesday, October 8, the Kelsey Research Foundation welcomed 300 golfers and volunteers at The Golf Trails of The Woodlands for their 30th Annual Golf Classic tournament. This year’s annual outing raised nearly $425,000 in funds to support Kelsey Research Foundation's mission to improve the quality of patient care and health outcomes through research and education. Since its inception, the golf tournament has raised more than $6.5 million for the Foundation's research programs.

Largest fundraising event of the year helps to conduct clinical trials, medical research, and patient education programs for Houstonians for years

The event began with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and included golfer games, gifts, a silent auction and a 19th Hole Luncheon. Gamma Construction was the Title Sponsor of the tournament, while other major sponsors included LabCorp, Epic, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, and NewQuest Properties.

“In the last 30 years the Kelsey Research Foundation has published over 100 scientific papers, abstracted almost 50,000 cancer cases for the cancer registry, and expanded its research collaborators to include the likes of Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center, UTHealth Houston, University of Houston, Yale University, Wake Forest University, and The Alzheimer’s Association," said Ashley Alexander, president and CEO of the Kelsey Research Foundation. “This tournament has been imperative to achieving our goal of expanding our outreach into the greater Houston community with an aim of establishing research sites at all major Kelsey-Seybold Clinic campus locations in Houston in the future.”

Kelsey Research Foundation is dedicated to advancing medical research and providing health education programs to the Houston community. As the non-profit research affiliate of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, the Kelsey Research Foundation organizes, facilitates, and implements collaborative research between Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and institutions of the Texas Medical Center and beyond.
