Parati Continues to Deliver Gold at Head of the Colorado
Smiling Parati team after success in Austin
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Parati took its young team to the Head of the Colorado Regatta hosted by Austin Rowing Club in Austin and scored four gold medals, a silver medal and a bronze medal. Half of the team took to the water in their first regatta.
Young Team Continues Parati's Tradition of Excellence
Seniors Jay Kirk and Ava Andrews each earned a gold medal in the men’s and women’s 1x (single). Coxswain Ankita Nair, James Staub, Rohan Kamdar, John Calder, and Theodore Bodie earned a gold medal in the novice men’s 4+ (coxed four), their first race ever. Finally, the under 17 women’s 8+ (coxed 8) with coxswain JP Ramirez, Addison Bennett, Regan Adams, Paige Yartym, Nellie Coleman, Charlotte Butts, Clare McKenna, Juliet Bohn and Elise Bohn earned a gold medal with the ladies pulling hard together to finish more than 13 seconds ahead of the second-place boat.
The men’s U17 4+ (coxed four) with coxswain James Staub, Christian Bohn, JP Ramirez, Brandon Ezem Weir, and Ahren Iwanaka finished with a silver medal.
In a testament to the hard work the team has been committed to, the women’s 4x (quad) rowed by Nellie Coleman, Ava Andrews, Clare McKenna, and Juliet Bohn finished with a bronze medal, just seven seconds from first place. Half of this boat is under 15 and additional training will surely benefit them, this is one to watch out for this spring.
Head Coach Michael Rosman commented, “the entire team has been working hard since this summer to improve conditioning and rowing mechanics. We have more work to do, but our process is working. I am proud of all our athletes’ efforts to improve. The next step is Waco on November 10th. Afterwards we will focus like a laser throughout the winter months to hit the ground at speed for the sprint season.”
Rosman went on, “we are providing our athletes with consistent coaching and leadership. This is my 13th year leading with team and our three assistants have all come through the program. I am immensely proud that the lessons our young rowers learn translate to their lives years after they leave the program.
