Lone Star College-University Park names new dean of Arts and Humanities division
HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College-University Park (LSC-University Park) is pleased to announce Adam Key, Ph.D., as the new dean of the Arts & Humanities division, effective Jan. 6, 2025. A seasoned educator, scholar and advocate, Key brings more than 15 years of teaching experience and a deep commitment to expanding educational access.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Key to LSC-University Park,” said Steven Kahla, vice president of instruction. “His passion for expanding learning opportunities aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire and empower every student. I am confident that his leadership will enhance our Arts & Humanities programs and support our commitment to inclusivity and academic excellence.”
Among his responsibilities, Key will oversee the Visual & Performing Arts programs at LSC-University Park, which include leveraging the college’s state-of-the-art Visual and Performing Arts Center to support students in developing their skills in music, theater, and fine arts.
Key earned his Ph.D. in communication from Texas A&M University and has taught at institutions such as the University of Arkansas at Monticello and Kansas State University-Salina. His experience includes nearly a decade at Lee College’s Huntsville Center, where he pioneered programs for underserved populations, reflecting his dedication to equitable education. Key is also an accomplished author and has presented his research at prestigious venues, including the United Nations and Yale University.
A highly active participant in community engagement, Key has organized multiple TEDx events. His academic approach combines academic rigor with a focus on transformative learning experiences.
