YMCA Run Through the Woods brings nearly 5,400 runners, walkers, and strollers to start Thanksgiving at a brisk pace
THE WOODLANDS, TX – A local Thanksgiving morning tradition, for the 35th year the YMCA Run Thru the Woods has supported local non-profits with the goal of strengthening The Woodlands community. The event brings thousands of community members together for entertainment and run/walks designed for all ages,and this year brought the second-largest number of participants – 5,380 – ever.
Veteran runners and first-time racers alike were able to participate in one of four suitable events, including a 3-mile run, 5-mile run, 3-mile walk, and 1-Mile kids race, which was presented by Huntsman. Pre-event festivities included rousing music, hot coffee, and photo opportunities all around the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion area.
Annually, YMCA Run Thru the Woods brings together thousands of people who run and walk for a great cause. Over the past 35 years, more than $2,750,000 has been raised for the YMCA and other local youth charities supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
