Holly Gruy, Chief Operating Officer of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, Announces Career Transition After over 25 Years of Service

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership (EDP) today announces the career transition of Holly Gruy, Chief Operating Officer, after a distinguished 25-year career dedicated to the organization and the economic vitality of The Woodlands Area. Gruy has served as a cornerstone of the EDP since 1999, playing a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission and driving sustainable economic growth within the community. Her final day with the Partnership will be December 31, 2024.

As COO, Gruy led the EDP’s daily operations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of key organizational functions, from overseeing budget and accounting processes to managing staff and serving as HR administrator. Her dedication to operational excellence has enabled the EDP to consistently meet strategic goals, supporting the organization’s efforts to attract new businesses to The Woodlands Area and fostering a vibrant business ecosystem.

Beyond her role as COO, Gruy contributed significantly to the EDP’s business recruitment efforts, representing the organization on both domestic and international trade missions. Her commitment to advancing economic development has made a lasting impact on our local communities and established a strong foundation for the EDP’s future.

Gruy’s extensive educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice-Victim Studies from Sam Houston State University, where she achieved a 4.0 GPA and graduated Cum Laude, and an Associate of Arts Degree from Lone Star College – Montgomery. Her pursuit of ongoing professional development led her to earn the prestigious Master Economic Development Practitioner (MEDP) certification in 2023, through a collaborative program among four major universities. Additionally, she received certificates in Essentials of Leadership and Effective Strategy Formulation from the Rice University Jones School of Business.

Gruy has been an influential member of various professional organizations, including the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC), where she currently serves as an Ex-Officio Board Member, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), HR Houston, and the Leadership Montgomery County Alumni Association. Her past board memberships include positions with Inspiration Ranch, Executive Women’s Alliance, Montgomery County Society for Human Resource Management, and the Montgomery County Humane Society. Her service extended beyond her professional commitments as she volunteered with numerous non-profit organizations including CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County, Children’s Safe Harbor, Interfaith of The Woodlands, and Dachshund Rescue of Houston.

Reflecting on her time with the EDP, Gruy shared, "It has been an honor to serve this organization and work alongside such passionate colleagues. I am proud of the impact we’ve made together to shape the future of The Woodlands Area, and I look forward to seeing the EDP continue to flourish in the years to come."
