Severe Weather Expected in Southeast Texas on Thursday
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- A new storm system is anticipated to impact Southeast Texas on Thursday, bringing the potential for severe weather. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of a cold front, with the highest threat window occurring between 1:00 PM and 10:00 PM CST.
The National Weather Service has identified several types of severe weather that could accompany this storm system, including:
-
Strong wind gusts
-
Large hail
-
Isolated tornadoes
As the evening progresses, storm activity is forecast to gradually shift southward, tapering off before midnight.
Flash Flooding Concerns
In addition to the risk of severe weather, heavy downpours are likely with these storms. Areas north of I-10 and east of I-45 are particularly vulnerable to flash flooding, compounded by already saturated soils from recent rainfall earlier this week. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and be prepared for potential flooding.
