Tomball ISD named Large District Finalist in H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Program
TOMBALL — H-E-B has named Tomball ISD one of five statewide finalists in the large district category for their prestigious Excellence in Education Awards program which honors outstanding achievement in Texas public education.
“We are extremely humbled and honored to be recognized by H-E-B as a Finalist for its Excellence in Education Awards,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora.
The H-E-B School District Awards recognize large and small school districts based on the following criteria:
- Commitment to student achievement through innovative programs
- Parent/Community involvement
- Professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators
“This recognition is a true testament to our commitment to high levels of learning, fostering innovation, building strong community connections, and investing in the continuous growth of our teachers and staff. We will continue to remain focused on creating endless opportunities for students as we know they will ‘lead in creating the future.’”

To determine overall statewide winners, a panel of judges visits each district, tours campuses and talks with administration, staff, parents, and community members.
The winning large district will receive $100,000; the winning small district $50,000. The state winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony on May 4 in Austin.
Nominations for the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards are now open to all state-certified public school professionals currently working in Texas. Teachers, counselors, principals, early childhood centers, school boards, and districts can win cash prizes for their outstanding work. Nominations will close on September 28, 2025.

ABOUT THE H-E-B EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARDS
H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education Awards program in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators in 2002 as a positive way to support public education in Texas. Since the program’s inception in 2002, H-E-B has awarded more than $14 million in funding to outstanding Texas teachers, principals, public school districts, school boards, and early childhood facilities.
