Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Arrested Willis Man for Drug Distribution

WILLIS, TX -- In November of 2024, the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) received an anonymous tip that controlled substances were being sold from a residence in the 13100 block of Leeshore Drive in Willis, Texas. Following several months of investigations, members of MOCONET were able to establish that Derek Tipping, 22-years-old, was distributing THC products, and was also found to have delivered the controlled substances to a minor.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Delivery of a Controlled Substance to a Minor, which is a 2nd degree felony. On February 7, 2025, MOCONET Detectives executed an arrest and search warrant at Tipping’s residence and discovered approximately $8,600 in U.S. currency, 374 grams of THC in vape cartridges, 341 grams of THC wax, miscellaneous prescription pills, 29 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, and 3 firearms. Tipping was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. He was charged with the original warrant and Possession of a Controlled Substance, an aggravated 1st degree felony.

The Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Task Force is a cooperative multi-agency task force which consists of law enforcement agencies from, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety-CID, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Walker County District Attorney’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Participating agencies recognized that a special collaborative effort was necessary to more effectively combat the drug distribution and collection of drug proceeds throughout the area.
