Annual book sale hosted by South Montgomery County ​Friends of the Library this week

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Each year, the South Montgomery County Friends of the Library hosts a book sale that simultaneously adds to local residents’ book collections while at the same time clearing space on the Montgomery County Library System’s shelves for new inventory.

The South Montgomery County Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that supports the South Regional Library and the George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library, which are the two Woodlands branches of the Montgomery County Library System. The organization’s contributions allow the two libraries to offer programs and resources beyond what their county budget covers.

The organization has subsidized programs such as book clubs for all age groups, job fairs, family game nights, dancing classes, knitting classes, and Library Lite – a health and wellness program. It generates revenue through the two used-book shops located in the branches, internet sales, membership dues, contributions, and proceeds from this annual sale.

This year’s book sale will be held in the South County Community Center at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive) and in the South Regional Branch Library at 2021 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. Dates and times are as follows:

• Thursday, March 20 – First Choice Night, $5.00 Donation (with purchase) 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
• Friday, March 21 – 9:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, March 22 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and $2.00 Bag Sale 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Children’s books will be shown in the South Library, in the large meeting room on the first floor. All other items will be shown in the Community Center. The sale will feature a wide variety of books ,both fiction and nonfiction, hardback, and paperback in multiple categories, as well as DVDs. There will be a large assortment of children’s and young adult books.

Donations of gently used books, books on CD, DVDs, puzzles, and games are accepted in the Friends Shops all year.
