NEW CANEY, TX -- On March 24, 2025 The Montgomery County Regional Auto Theft Task Force received multiple reports of truck tailgates being stolen in the Porter and New Caney area.

One of the victims advised his tailgate had unique identifiers, and it was later located for sale on a social media platform. The seller, identified as Rocky Jackson, 18-years-old, was taken into custody after being found in possession of the tailgate.

Through further investigation, Montgomery County Task Force Investigators, along with Harris County Auto Theft, recovered 10 more stolen tailgates by Jackson. Jackson was arrested for Felony Theft and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

The task force would like to thank the Conroe Police Auto Theft, the Harris County Auto Theft, and the Department of Public Safety/Criminal Investigation Division, for their assistance in this operation. The Montgomery County Regional Auto Theft Task Force is trained and funded in part by the Texas Motor Vehicle Crimes Prevention Authority.
