Spring Creek DAR Bursts With Record Attendance!

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On April 10, Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR saw record attendance at a regular meeting, with 66 women in attendance! Texas State Regent Susan Johnston was the guest speaker. She shared information about her State Regent’s project, Before the Lone Star. Before the Lone Star is a book for students on the role Texas played in the American Revolution before it was 'Texas'. Spring Creek Chapter has already ordered 10 additional hardbound copies to distribute to schools not covered by the project.
Mrs. Johnston also spoke about the new education grants for Title I schools, and Spring Creek Chapter is already working with a local school to apply for one of the $500 grants.

Bonnie D’Amico gave a report on the DAR Hospital Corps, and Sheri Hummer gave a report on the Marine Medal of Honor recipients in Texas, in addition to our regular chapter officer and committee reports.
The chapter also held a cereal drive to help supply the Stone Bridge Church food pantry with cereal. This meeting was packed with information for members about all that is going on in DAR. We are looking forward to our May meeting!
