It must’ve come as a shock to many of you to have to dodge some thunderstorms earlier today. Even more gasp-inducing is the fact that our high today will only get up to 89. Welcome to the lest legs of summer, at least for this week.

Monday has been relatively cool and breezy, with grey clouds dropping some rain here and there. Though the storms dropped the temperature down into the 70s, the mercury is slowly crawling back up to 84 before it starts heading down again. Around quitting time today, the clouds and the winds will both die down. The cool, damp air will stick around, and we’ll actually spend most of our overnight in the 70s.

On Tuesday, the slight chances of rain and storms continue, but hopefully it will be more bark than bite. While the high temp will rapidly get up to 91, the ongoing humidity in the air will make it feel like 100. In the afternoon, clouds and winds will both peak, and then will hopefully settle down into a quiet overnight with lows making down to about 74 degrees.

Wednesday will see more of the same, with mostly cloudy skies, perhaps with some accompanying precipitation, and gusting winds up to about 10 miles per hour. Again, the natural high temperature will hover around 89 to 91, but the heat index will be steady at 100.

As Wednesday overnight morphs into Thursday, the clouds will grow denser and we’ll spend most of our Friday Eve under scattered thunderstorms all day and night. While the precipitation will settle down in the evening for a bit, they won’t completely go away. The high will stick right around 90, and for the first time this week the heat index won’t take it to the triple-digit mark.

Friday will be a basic repeat of Thursday, with scattered thunderstorms throughout the entire day and night, with highs in the upper 80s and the heat index under 100. As you brace for the weekend, you may want to consider some indoor activities, as the sun probably won’t fully come out from behind the clouds until well into next week…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
