Though wild thunderstorms blitzed through the area in the middle of last night (waking up many of us, including the Woodlands Online Weather Team) and today has been warm and dry, we have to let you know that the wet stuff ain’t done for, not by a long shot.

The week will start off summerlike enough, which is apt for the area considering we just officially hit spring over this weekend. Our Monday afternoon high of 89 will rapidly diminish in around nightfall, thanks to the humidity plummeting all afternoon, and we’ll end up with a low in the upper 50s under clear, starry skies.

Overnight, the humidity will hop back up, contributing to a foggy early Tuesday morning. Only a few clouds will dot the skies, and the thermostat will finally break the 90 degree mark for a high tomorrow. Again, the humidity will drop throughout the afternoon hours, helping bring down the mercury until it hovers around 60 for the low.

As Tuesday night melds into Wednesday morning, the clouds will finally come in more strongly, and bring a small chance of precipitation with them. The starters will rapidly be blotted out by the clouds, and by the time the sun rises Wednesday we’ll be at 100 percent humidity and a comparable cloud cover. Fortunately, the high pressure system will hang around and keep the heavy rains at bay for the day. The high will only get to about 84 and the overnight low will be about 20 degrees cooler.

Thursday, however, the tide turns. The pressure system will gradually ease, and the heavy rains that have been holding back will finally get unleashed starting in the mid afternoon. All day and night the clouds will dominate the sky as the high barely gets up to the mid 70s. As nighttime descends, the winds will kick up, adding to the damp misery. The blanket of clouds will keep the low overnight temperature in the mid 60s.

Friday you can basically kiss off getting a suntan. Expect thunderstorms the entire day, off and on, with gusting winds and cooler temperatures that will only start to ease as night comes into view. Overnight into Saturday, the rains will slowly dissipate, and hopefully gone by the time you wake up Saturday morning to sunny skies and highs in the 80s…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
